About the Yellow Rose Chapter:

The Yellow Rose chapter of the National Society of Decorative Painters was formed to bring together Decorative Painters of all levels. Our goal is further the education of our members and the public about decorative painting.

The Chapter meets on the Second Saturday of January, March, May, July, September, and November at  King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6411 LBJ Freeway Dallas (Between Hillcrest & Preston).   (see map below).  When the church is unavailable to us the Community Room at the First Bank of Canyon Creek will be used.  (see map below)  We are also very lucky, member Joan Ferris has secured a room at Southwest Airlines for dates when the church and bank buildings are not available.  Map will be included soon.

Meetings start at 12:30 following a painting workshop that begins at 9 a.m.  These workshops are taught by local members and are usually beginner or simple projects because of the time allotted.  These workshops are free to members.

Four paint-ins are held in opposite months of the meetings.  They are all day and taught by local member teachers.  There is a $10 fee.  Usually held at church.  They begin at 9 a.m. and are usually finished by 4 p.m.

The Chapter usually has two Seminars a year with Nationally-known travel teachers.  Normally three-days in length, price determined by cost of seminar.  The Fri/Sat days of seminars are held at the King of Glory Lutheran Church and the Sundays are held at the First Bank of Canyon Creek.  Seminars are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

One or more Service Projects are chosen each year and for several years we have  been painting boxes for the National Organization for Memory Boxes and giving them to Baylor hospitals to be given to parents that loose a child. In the past we have painted walls in schools, painted boxes for breast cancer patients and other projects.

Our major Ways & Means event is an Annual Auction and a raffle. The members are asked to donate a painted piece and we hold a live and silent Auction during Tole Painting Month in October. The raffle piece is usually a larger piece painted by several of our members and tickets sold to the general public. The last couple of years we have had a "members only" raffle piece also.  Member's Only Raffle
